The Explosion girls traveled to Gettysburg over the Columbus Day weekend to defend their 2007 Dillsburg Dual Shootout championship in a bracket of 24 U-14 girls teams. The girls exited pool play with a 3-0 record and the # 1 tournament seed beating FC York Fuego 3-0, Carlisle Crash 3-0 and LDC United Dragonflies 2-0. In the double elimination bracket, the girls beat Redland Ice 1-0 to complete Saturday play with a 4-0 record. On Sunday, the girls beat Cheltenham Chargers 4-0 before being tripped up by North Carroll Cyclones (MD) in a shootout after a 1-1 tie game. The girls bounced back to beat Rose Tree Rush 1-0 to advance to the championship game against North Carroll in a repeat of the 2007 final. The championship game turned into a classic physical defensive struggle that ended in a 0-0 tie. The USTA girls won the championship game shootout 2-1 to claim the 2008 championship and make it back to back championships at the Dillsburg Dual Shootout. The girl's record for the tournament was 7-1 outcoring teams 15 goals to 1 goal. A great job by the girls - CONGRATULATIONS!
